Ten years ago we had my fiance put in an exterior mausoleum space. The space is too high to reach without a ladder. Three or four times a year around holiday time we have tried to get flowers put in the urn we paid for. At first we had worked out a system where they gave me an empty insert that I would return filled and ready. The last few years that option has been offered less and less. Two weeks before last Christmas they asked me to just leave the flowers and they would put his name on them and put them in the urn for me. The flowers were never seen again. I just tried again and I was told to either leave the flowers or return another day when the groundskeeper was there. If they don't trust me to return with the cheep plastic inserts I could leave a deposit but I want my memorial carefully arranged and appropriately sized not just hurriedly placed by a busy groundskeeper on a ladder. I also worry about how my children will do this for me when my time arrives to share this final resting place.
The morning of my father's funeral, they called and informed us that they just found another casket in his plot. We had to have the service in the chapel there and then my father was put back at the mortuary until they figured out how to fix this. In the end, my mother had to be dug up and moved, so she could be on the correct side of my father. Bottom line was I was not at my father's internment, nor was I there for when this happened to my mother, as I live in another state. Not something I will ever forget.
Grounds crew could do better work.
