They really care here. Excellent fast service

I took my wife to the ER to see if they could do anything for her pain. After an hour in the waiting room, the so-called doctor eventually showed up to her room and told her that there wasn't anything they could do. Nothing. He literally asked: "What do you want me to do about it?" And then told her she should have stuck with Navy medicine. It turns out that treating patients is apparently not Sentara's policy. We were told by an employee that a lot of people come in for pain meds, so the hospital can't be bothered to give any to patients. They did not examine my wife. They did not contact her primary care provider. They did not treat her case with any real consideration for its or her validity. It was a horrible experience as a frustrated husband of a wife in intense pain, untreated by an uncaring medical staff.

This isn't the worst hospital I've ever been to but it is right near the top. The wait time isn't very long and time from check in to check out is pretty quick as well. Everyone is always very polite. However, that's not why I when to the ER. I'm not here for a customer service experience I'm here to be treated. And that's where they come in as one of the worst. I don't know how they haven't faced a lawsuit yet and if they have I absolutely understand why. I came in and complained of pain that was similar to a kidney stone. I was treated as if I had an STD and sent home with antibiotics to treat gonorrhea. They next day I had to be rushed to Chesapeake regional where I was correctly diagnosed. I could've died from shock from the pain I felt that night. Just tonight, I sprained my foot at work which is not far from this hospital. I didn't want to go there but I also had to be seen because my foot resembles a grapefruit. So I get dropped off. They run X-rays on every part of my leg and ankle but skipped over the place I complained of the pain. I know my foot is sprained because again, after I left Sentara with no crutches or meds for pain OR inflammation, I went to Chesapeake Regional. They were shocked and borderline upset in their ER because I was walking on that foot with no support. I'm home comfortable as possible now thanks to the good folks in Chesapeake. I've read the other reviews so I know I'm not the only one. This isn't right and something needs to be done. ER isn't supposed to take care of you like your personal care provider will, but they are the initial line of defense against injuries and illnesses. Imagine the world we'd have if all hospitals operated like them.

Bayside er is absolutely wonderful. I had to go there this past sat and sun for help. The staff and doctors were fantastic. They did everything they could do to help me. Very courteous and and caring. Would go there again if needed.

Excellent care from the staff when emergency services took me to this location. Joel in the ER Department was very thoughtful and did everything in his power to make me comfortable. I genuinely appreciate the level of care received at this hospital in my time of need.
