Great place, but there is little ventilation and the rooms get very muggy.
3. The shower did not drain; I doubted it had been cleaned before I got in it so I was standing in four inches of pretty gunky water.
I was in Virginia for a short time and had the opportunity to float at Dream Spa a few times last week. All of my experiences were wonderful even when the filter came on during my Sunday float which cut the float short by 30 minutes. Fortunately, by that time, I was completely and utterly relaxed. Shante and Melody (staff) were extremely nice and ensured all my inquiries were answered. I highly recommend this Spa, especially if you're military because it's an exceptional way to relax from a hard day's/week's work and, you get a discount...Thank you for that Morgan and Leslie! If I'm ever back in Virginia, I will definitely be floating at Dream Spa every chance I get!
My time inside the tank was very nice. I have floated on a number of occasions in the past 20 years and this was a fine tank.
I think this could be an incredible experience but the room was too cold. The 1/2 of my body that was out of the water but still wet and had chill bumps the entire time. That makes it hard to relax and get the full effect of sensory deprivation that this therapy is suppose to offer. The float tank water was a nice warm temperature but the room air wasn't warm enough to float wet for an hour on a winter day.
However, I had several concerns about about the sanitary conditions and the overall safety in the experience.
The floors were wet and slippery. 1 towel seemed too little for 2 showers.
1. The floor between the shower and the tank was wet and treacherous to navigate. The slippers provided should be disposable, not a pair that is used by all so as not to share and spread foot fungus. I opted not to use them.
However, the benefit of this type of therapy was noticeable. I was pain free for the entire hour and for the remainder of the day.
Small, nice, and clean. Been here 4 times so far, all great experiences. Extremely relaxing to the body and mind. I would only recommend bringing your own flip flops as the provided are reused and one size.
All in all, I can't say that I'll be back based on my initial experience.
Easy check-in and friendly staff.
Nice shampoos and soaps to clean up afterwards.
2. More than one towel would be helpful since two showers are required: before and after. More than anything I wanted to mop up the water on the floor with a towel but only one pretty thin one was provided. At this point a call the attendant bell would have been nice and I'm sure she would have brought me more.
