I cannot recommend HR Veterinary Hospice highly enough. When our 16 year old dog, Ernie, had come to the end one morning, our own vet could not get him in until several hours later. I called HRVH and Dr. Thomas said she could be at our home in an hour and a half, and she helped me make arrangements for the pet cremation service that would also come to the home. Dr. Thomas was incredible in her sensitivity, calmness, and empathy for both our beloved pet and us. Ernie had a peaceful passing with his head in my lap, in his own bed, in his favorite spot in the kitchen. I will always be grateful to them for their services, and their sympathetic manner. They are the best.
Dr. Schacher made a sad event of putting our cat of 15 1/2 years down as pleasant as it could be in our house. She was very kind and compassionate to our cat and us. She even made our other cat who doesn't like strangers feel at ease. I highly recommend her. Thank you Dr. Schacher.
I cannot say enough good about Dr Carmack and the services HRVH offers. My 20 year old cat was scared to death to go to the vet, and they came right to my apartment for a visit, as well as in home euthanasia where he could be relaxed and surrounded by family. They brought a clay kit to make a paw print, and afterwards I received not only a card of condolences, but a letter stating they had donated money to a charity in my pets honor. Truly amazing service and so helpful to get through such a terrible time.
This staff is very professional! Had a pet for 13 years and never left my side. Was there for my ups and downs. My dog had some trouble last night and I called them and they came over right away and gave me some options. They are very passionate and actually care about your animal. I highly reccomend them for anyone who is having a hard time deciding about health options for their dog.
New to the area and had a cat that had to be put down. Since we didn't have an established vet yet and didn't want to drag our cat around town, we called General Booth Vet looking for a house call. They directed us to Hampton Roads Vet Hospice. For a terrible situation, it was the best it could be. Dr. Carmack came to our house, assessed our cat, and helped him cross to the other side in his own surroundings. She also arranged for cremation for us. Price was comparable to euthanasia in a traditional vet's office. Very thankful for this service! Made losing our boy a bit easier.
